Shadow for a Day

Curious about what it's really like to be an IB Prep Magnet student? We invite prospective students to spend a full day with us through our shadowing program! This is your opportunity to experience firsthand the rigorous curriculum, vibrant community, and dynamic learning environment that makes Fairview's IB Prep program special.

During your shadow day, you'll be paired with a current student ambassador in your grade level (6th, 7th, or 8th grade) and follow them through an authentic school day. You'll observe classes, participate in lessons and activities, meet our dedicated teachers, and get a genuine feel for what it means to be part of our high-achieving, well-rounded community of learners.

We highly encourage all interested students to shadow! Nearly all of our current students participated in shadowing before enrolling, and families consistently tell us it was instrumental in making their final decision.

What to Expect

Schedule: Shadowing takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning Thursday, January 8th, 2026, and continuing through the end of the school choice application window.

Time: Students should arrive at Fairview by 9:15 AM and will stay with us until 3:00 PM.

Your Day Will Include:

• Welcome meeting with Mrs. Sherraden, our program coordinator
• Full day with a student ambassador who will guide you through classes
• Opportunities to observe and participate in lessons and activities
• Time to ask questions and learn about our extracurricular programs

For Parents: While your child is in class, you're welcome to join Mrs. Sherraden for a 30-minute school tour from 9:30-10:00 AM. This is a great chance to see our facilities, peek into classrooms, and ask any questions you may have about the program.

• Excused Absence: We will provide an excuse note for your child's current school
• Confirmation: You'll receive a reminder email the day before your scheduled shadow date
