Military Family Resources

Welcome to Fairview! We look forward to meeting your family, and helping your student transition into our school community!

Military Point of Contact: Lyndsey Bell, APC

Email: Lyndsey.Bell@leonschools.net

School Enrollment: We look forward to welcoming your family to our school! Students may enroll at any time throughout the school year. To get started, visit the Leon County Schools Enrollment website to complete the registration process.

Families interested in our IB Prep Magnet Program must apply through the School Choice application process. The school choice applications open each year in January.

If you have questions about enrollment or need assistance, please email our school-based enrollment team at FMSEnrollment@leonschools.net. Be sure to include your student's full name in your email so our team can better assist you.

  • Course placement: We review your student's previous coursework to place them in the appropriate classes, including advanced and accelerated courses. Mid-year transfers are placed in courses that best continue their prior learning.

    IB Prep Magnet Program: Military students who were enrolled in comparable advanced or magnet programs at their previous school should contact our Magnet Coordinator, Cameron Sherraden, to discuss placement options.

    State testing and requirements: Our APC will review any Florida testing or course requirements, such as the Civics End-of-Course exam, and make a plan with your family so your student stays on track.

    Ongoing check-ins: Guidance will check in with military students throughout the year, especially during deployments or other family transitions.

  • Military-connected students are resilient, but they can also face unique challenges, including:

    • frequent moves and changing schools;
    • leaving friends behind and starting over socially;
    • a parent's deployment, training, or extended absence;
    • adjusting when a deployed parent returns home; and
    • worry about a parent's safety.

    Signs that a student may be struggling include changes in sleep or appetite, withdrawing from friends or activities, irritability, trouble concentrating, or a drop in grades.

  • We welcome all new Falcons with support from our school community and student leaders. Students from various clubs help make the transition to Fairview as smooth as possible by providing campus tours and helping new students locate their classes.

    Once in class, teachers will connect new students with a peer buddy who can help them navigate from class to class during their first few days.

    We also encourage new Falcons to get involved and make connections by joining a club, sport, or school activity.Visit our Clubs page to learn more about the many ways to get involved at Fairview!
